Upcoming Projects: Building the Foundation of World Tree Permaculture

As we establish World Tree Permaculture, we are prioritizing key projects that will set the foundation for our mission of creating a resilient, sustainable, and community-driven future. These initiatives will provide education, resources, and infrastructure to support our long-term vision.

1. Securing Land for Our Demonstration Farm

Our first major step is acquiring land in Hegins, Pennsylvania, where we will establish a permaculture demonstration farm. This site will serve as a living classroom for regenerative agriculture, ecological restoration, and sustainable living practices.

Key components of the farm will include:

  • Food forests for perennial crop production

  • Silvopasture systems integrating trees and livestock

  • Market gardens for community-supported agriculture (CSA)

  • Renewable energy and water management systems

2. Establishing a Community Nutrition Assistance Program

Food justice is a core value of World Tree Permaculture. We are developing a Community Nutrition Assistance Program to increase access to fresh, local, and nutrient-dense food for low-income families. This initiative will focus on:

  • Sliding-scale CSA shares to provide affordable produce

  • Donation-based food distributions

  • Educational workshops on cooking, nutrition, and food preservation

3. Developing Educational Programs & Workshops

Education is the heart of our mission. We will offer hands-on permaculture courses, workshops, and community events to share knowledge and empower people to take action.

Initial offerings will include:

  • Introduction to Permaculture workshops

  • Homesteading and self-sufficiency skills

  • Food forest and agroforestry design

  • Climate-resilient farming techniques

4. Launching the World Tree Mercantile & Maker’s Club

To support our work and provide sustainable goods to the community, we are developing the World Tree Mercantile & Maker’s Club—a marketplace and creative hub for ethically sourced, eco-friendly, and regenerative products. This initiative will include:

  • Locally produced organic foods and herbal goods
  • Handcrafted textiles and wool products from sustainable sources
  • Permaculture tools and seeds to support home growers
  • Educational materials on sustainability and self-sufficiency
  • A Maker’s Club, where artisans, craftspeople, and DIY enthusiasts can collaborate, share skills, and create sustainable goods

5. Opening the World Tree Farm-to-Table Restaurant

As part of our commitment to local, sustainable, and regenerative food systems, we will establish the World Tree Farm-to-Table Restaurant. This eatery will showcase fresh, seasonal ingredients sourced directly from our farm and local producers, creating a closed-loop food system that supports both the environment and the community.

Key features of the restaurant will include:

  • Hyper-local ingredients sourced from our farm and regional growers
  • Seasonal, rotating menus focused on nutrient-dense, whole foods
  • Zero-waste kitchen practices that minimize food waste and maximize efficiency
  • Community-centered dining, offering pay-what-you-can nights and educational dinners
  • Workshops & farm tours, connecting people to their food sources

This restaurant will not only serve delicious, sustainable meals but also function as an educational space for ethical food production, conscious consumption, and culinary sustainability.

6. Creating the World Tree Textile Initiative

Sustainable fiber production is an often-overlooked aspect of regenerative agriculture. Through the World Tree Textile Initiative, we will establish a closed-loop wool processing system that ensures our fiber never leaves the site until it is a finished product.

This initiative will include:

  • Developing a climate-beneficial wool program through silvopasture
  • On-site fiber processing, from raw fleece to finished yarn, minimizing transportation emissions
  • Supporting natural dyeing and fiber arts education using locally sourced plant-based dyes
  • Providing spinning, carding, and processing services to wool growers throughout the region
  • Offering ethical and eco-friendly clothing alternatives made from sustainable fibers

By keeping all processing in-house and supporting regional wool growers, we aim to set a new standard for ethical and sustainable textile production.

7. Building Partnerships & Community Engagement

To create meaningful impact, we are fostering collaborations with local farmers, artisans, educators, and organizations that align with our mission. Through partnerships, we will:

  • Expand regenerative agriculture networks

  • Support mutual aid initiatives

  • Advocate for sustainable land stewardship
