At World Tree Permaculture, we are committed to creating a self-sustaining, regenerative economy that supports local artisans, farmers, and craftspeople. The World Tree Mercantile & Makers Club will be a cornerstone of this effort—providing a marketplace for ethically sourced, eco-friendly, and regenerative products while also fostering a community of skilled makers who can share their crafts, tools, and knowledge.
The World Tree Mercantile
The Mercantile will serve as both a physical and online marketplace, offering high-quality, sustainable goods that align with our mission. Through this initiative, we aim to support local economies, encourage regenerative practices, and provide our community with products they can trust.
What We Will Offer:
Locally Produced Organic Foods & Herbal Goods – Fresh produce, herbal remedies, teas, and other farm-grown products from regenerative sources.
Handcrafted Textiles & Wool Products – Sustainably sourced fiber goods, including natural-dyed yarns, woven fabrics, and handmade garments.
Permaculture Tools & Seeds – Essential supplies for home gardeners and farmers, including heirloom and regionally adapted seeds.
Educational Materials & Books – Resources on permaculture, sustainable living, and traditional crafts to empower lifelong learning.
By offering ethically produced, locally sourced goods, the Mercantile will help fund our larger mission while supporting independent makers and small businesses in our region.
The Makers Club
Alongside the Mercantile, we will establish a Makers Club—a space for artisans, craftspeople, and DIY enthusiasts to collaborate, learn, and create. This initiative will provide the tools, materials, and educational opportunities needed to revive traditional skills and foster innovation in sustainable craft production.
What the Makers Club Will Provide:
Workshops & Classes – Hands-on instruction in fiber arts, woodworking, natural dyeing, blacksmithing, and more.
Shared Tools & Equipment – Access to specialized tools for fiber processing, woodworking, and other crafts.
Collaboration & Skill-Sharing – A community-driven space where members can trade knowledge and work on projects together.
Fiber Processing Services – We will provide spinning, dyeing, and fiber preparation services for regional wool growers, ensuring that local fiber stays within the community from fleece to fabric.
By creating a space where people can revitalize traditional crafts, experiment with sustainable materials, and build a community of skilled artisans, the Makers Club will play a vital role in our regenerative future.
Why This Matters
The World Tree Mercantile & Makers Club is about more than just selling goods—it’s about creating a localized, sustainable economy where people are empowered to create, share, and thrive. By supporting this initiative, you help:
Reduce reliance on mass-produced, environmentally harmful goods.
Strengthen local supply chains and small-scale producers.
Preserve and revitalize traditional skills and regenerative practices.
Build a self-sufficient community rooted in sustainability and craftsmanship.
