The Pennsylvania Coal region has long faced economic hardships. Once a hub of industry, the decline of coal left behind struggling communities and limited job opportunities. To make matters worse, giant agribusiness corporations have edged out small family farms, making it harder for local farmers to sustain their livelihoods. But at World Tree Permaculture, we believe in revitalization through sustainability, and we are committed to creating a thriving, self-sustaining future for this region.

Sustainable Farming and Local Business Development
World Tree Permaculture is taking a bold approach to these challenges by developing a permaculture farm that operates using sustainable agriculture principles—working with nature, rather than against it, to restore the land, build soil health, and cultivate a resilient agricultural system. Beyond the farm itself, we are launching three sustainable, location-based businesses to support both the land and the local economy:
Farm-to-Table Restaurant – Serving fresh, locally sourced food that showcases the bounty of our land while supporting local farmers and food producers.
Community-Supported Mercantile – Providing a marketplace for local artisans, farmers, and craftspeople to sell their goods, keeping wealth within the community.
Soil-to-Shirt Textile Company – Creating sustainable clothing from locally grown fibers, offering an ethical alternative to fast fashion while fostering regional economic growth.
As cofounders of World Tree Permaculture, Quin Hudon and I are incredibly excited to be launching this eco-friendly initiative. We are passionate about restoring the land, building a resilient local economy, and demonstrating that sustainability and prosperity can go hand in hand.
We are especially grateful to Ecologistics, our parent organization, for adopting us. Their support allows us to hit the ground running, ensuring we can start making an impact even sooner. With their help, we are able to focus on the work that truly matters—rebuilding our community and restoring the land.
Support Sustainable Farming & Community Growth
But we can’t do this alone. To make this vision a reality, we need your support. Your donations will help us establish our farm, develop our businesses, and lay the foundation for a thriving, sustainable future in the Pennsylvania Coal region. Every contribution, no matter the size, brings us one step closer to transforming this community.
Join us in building a sustainable future that honors the land, empowers local farmers, and revitalizes our community.
